Developmental & design project Ekoobjem (»Ecoembrace«) is being created by the members of Ekoci – eco civilian iniciative of Slovenia and by the newly formed young team of Atelier l'Esprit Jaillisant – Atelier of the Springing Mind with the support of Hemp shop Hannah biz and Pomurski sejem. The central idea of the project, around which the participating and contributing members are building a story about prosperity with the help of industrial hemp and strengthening the foundations and constructing for its realization, is a retrieval of a connection between people and this extraordinary plant, which has been stigmatized during a recent few decades on the basis of exclusion of related species from legal agronomic producing plans. Developmental & design project Ekoobjem is devised as a lighthouse for the connecting of producers of the primary sector and the processing sector with knowledge and a vision, how to launch the knowledge about industrial hemp, self – supply, economic opportunities and about the creation of vacancies and working positions by means of economic advantages which industrial hemp exhibits.
Following the path of the values of living with nature, sustainable development, economic prosperity and thinking – spiritual diversity and harmony, we have devised ecological designs made of hemp textile and mixtures of hemp with other natural materials and completed the collection with handmade knit wear and Slovenian motifs. In the fashion clothing collection there is a Slovenian spirit integrated into natural ecological materials, through the to Slovenian space pertaining parts of our heritage which have been continually present in our society as symbols or elements that contribute to the awareness about the historical and environmental dimension of the formation of Slovenian community. We have chosen a few of those that enrich the expressiveness of the designs and their aesthetic and narrative dimension. Pieces of collection are thus adorned by prints of patterns of lace of Idrija and sketches of Kurent (carnival figure from Ptuj) and carnations. Elegance is conjured up by lace and the collection is further enriched also by the handmade knit top and a backpack and a tunic made of a mixture of hemp textile and silk.
